Adventure Recovery Guides are incredibly talented outdoor educators  and coaches who are highly trained and experienced in substance use disorder prevention and recovery. Each of our guides are certified recovery coaches and also hold certifications in advanced wilderness first aid or higher with additional specialized certifications in specific outdoor skills. They have years of practice as guides and mentors and proven track records of helping individuals achieve their goals.


Tim Walsh, Founder

Tim is an outdoor educator and recovery coach who specializes in guiding people through the external and internal wilderness. Over the last 20 years, he has founded and lead numerous programs and institutions in the addictions recovery and prevention fields, as well as offered individualized support for those seeking purpose and spiritual development. He has personally supported thousands of families through the process of accessing treatment and building lasting recovery.

Tim has consulted for and developed substance abuse awareness programs for private schools, youth development programs and national conferences. As a pioneer in the field of adventure-based counseling, he was one of the founding members of Mountainside Treatment Center. He served as Founding Director of Adventure Based Counseling at Mountainside and was eventually promoted to Executive Director. Tim served in this capacity for four years and left to start his own consulting business.

Tim has earned Instructor Trainer levels of certification in ACA whitewater canoe, pro rescuer first aid & CPR and lifeguarding as well as certifications in advanced whitewater kayak instruction, BCU star 3 sea kayaking, wilderness first responder, recovery coaching and adventure based counseling.

Tim has studied various wisdom traditions and received healing rites and practical tools from elders and practitioners from both Western and Eastern disciplines. With a deep reverence and respect for ceremony and ritual, he facilitates a tailored approach to personal transformative process.

When not on the river, Tim spends time with his wife and their twins exploring the Berkshire hills, paddling the Housatonic, working in the garden, and creating.


Adam Galambos, Operations

Adam’s experience, knowledge and passion allow him to connect, inspire and lead people to realizing their highest potential. He’s been a professional in the recovery field for five years and is skilled in both management and organizational leadership. Adam is a certified recovery coach and a skilled intervention practitioner. He has served on both private and volunteer ambulance companies throughout Massachusetts and currently holds his WEMT and MA EMT as well as his CPR/First Aid/AED Trainer Certification. Adam is currently pursuing his degree in social work.

As an avid CrossFit athlete, Adam believes that by challenging his physical and mental abilities, he’s able to cultivate a deeper understanding, clarity and purpose for life and his own personal recovery. Adam has a deep love of the outdoors and great reverence for the healing nature of food as medicine. A resident of the Northern Berkshires, he is passionate about volunteering, supporting the local economy, sustainability and gardening.


Nathaniel Bossi, Climbing Coach

Nathaniel brings a mix of talents to the AR team. A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, he is an accomplished climber, skier, runner, and backpacker. A NOLS graduate, Nathaniel helps our clients develop a variety of technical skills.

Whether it is a 5am trail run, a multi-pitch crack climb, or a lengthy expedition, Nathaniel believes in the transformative power of  outdoor experience. He believes that time outdoors is an integral part of a successful long-term recovery, including his own.
