Whitewater Rafting and River Surfing Day

Whitewater Rafting and River Surfing Day

Housatonic River, Kent CT

Saturday, April 14

Noon-4:00 PM

We will meet at Noon at Kent Coffee and Chocolate on RT 7 in Kent Center. We encourage you to arrive a little early to get some great coffee and chocolates! We will do a quick introduction, fill out waivers and then drive down to the take-out to gear up!

The Adventure:

We will be guiding rafts on the class III-IV Bulls Bridge section of the Housatonic River in South Kent, CT. This section of river is one of the most challenging stretches of whitewater in New England. It includes the famous Flume, a call IV vertical drop with an exciting run out through standing waves. The next stretch is the class III S-Turn and Pencil Sharpener rapids, the longest rapids on the trip. We then make our way through the 10 Mile rapid which is the confluence of the Ten Mile River entering the Housatonic. After some flat-water, the raft trip ends at George's Hole, an excellent standing wave that is perfect for experiencing the thrill of river surfing on a boogie board or inflatable river surf board. AR Guides will offer instruction and pointers- the rest is up to you!

Participants must be 18 or older and be physically fit and able to swim in challenging conditions. Participants must sign a waiver and medical release form.
