We will meet at 10:00AM at Starbucks, 1156 Main St, Watertown, CT 06795. We encourage you to arrive a little early to get some coffee! We will do a quick introduction, fill out waivers and then drive 10 minutes to the Whitestone Cliffs trailhead (parking is limited so some carpooling may be necessary).
Join us for a day of top-rope climbing and bouldering instruction at the beautiful Whitestone Cliffs. This is an introductory experience for those seeking to learn the basics of outdoor climbing. No previous climbing experience is required.
Participants will learn the basics techniques of top rope climbing, belaying and bouldering. We will also review the top-rope system, including climbing equipment and the tensionless anchor building process; and teach general climbing site etiquette. AR Guides will provide instruction and assess belay skills before allowing participants to belay.
Participants must be 18 or older, in good physical condition and sign a waiver and medical release form.
All Adventure Recovery experiences are substance free and participants cannot be under the influence of any mind altering substance.
Adventure Recovery provides all technical equipment including: Ropes, Hardware, Harnesses, Helmets, Climbing Shoes, Chalk Bags, Bouldering Pads.
Participants should bring the following personal equipment:
- If you have your own: Personal climbing gear (Harness, Helmet, Shoes, Belay Device, Locking Caribiner)
- Dress appropriately for the weather. Layers!
- Day Pack
- Rain Gear
- Lunch and a snack
- Full Water Bottle
- Hat & Sunglasses
Weather Cancellation Policy:
If the rocks are wet- we may not climb. We generally go out in all conditions (except extreme weather). Rain can make climbing difficult and dangerous. We will monitor the forecast and confirm the night before and morning of if rainy weather is an issue. If cancelled, we will reschedule at AR's convenience.
