Do what you love!
Who Should Attend
The Adventure Recovery Guide Certificate program is designed for people who work with individuals and groups seeking positive change or who simply want to acquire the expertise to embark on adventures outdoors. This includes therapists, counselors, recovery coaches, educators, recovery advocates, people in recovery, wellness professionals, yoga teachers, life coaches, and anyone else who meets our requirements. We provide proven techniques and skills in outdoor leadership and mentoring, with a strong focus on recovery-awareness for clients who are in recovery. In addition, our prevention awareness is infused in our Adventure Discovery program, which teaches kids, tweens, teens, and young adults (or old adults!) how to harness a love for nature. Furthermore, participants who complete the course and all necessary practice requirements will be empowered with the following knowledge and skills:
Module 1: Adventure Recovery Core Skills: 4 Days, 3 Nights
Storytelling and Metaphor
Nature as Teacher
Outdoor and Client Ethics
Outdoor Risk Management
Module 2: Adventure Recovery Outdoor Skills: 4 Days, 3 Nights

Goal setting and tracking
Upon completion of the AR Guide modules, Wilderness Advanced First Aid Certification, and River Rescue Certification participants will receive an AR Guide Level 1 certificate. This certificate enables you to offer these experiences to individual clients and to be eligible to facilitate Adventure Recovery programs and be featured on the AR website as an Adventure Recovery Guide.
Costs for the training are furnished upon request and include: AR Guide manual, WAFA and RRC manuals, professional outdoor leadership instruction, meals, technical equipment (personal gear list will be forwarded upon registration), and a lifelong community of likeminded people. Contact us directly for payment plans.
Successful graduates will be encouraged to earn additional credentials and specialize their outdoor skills offerings through AR sponsored instructor certification trainings. Adventure Recovery has partnered with the following Gold Standard instructor certification organizations:
