“Adventure Recovery partners with schools, treatment centers, and recovery programs to provide clinically-informed adventure programming. We're not replacing therapy; we're enhancing it with experiential interventions that build confidence, connection, resilience, and sustainable coping strategies.”—Josh Flaherty, LCSW, AR executive director

CASE STUDY: Britelife Recovery

The Challenge: Britelife Recovery needed consistent, therapeutic outdoor programming for their clients in early recovery. They wanted experiential activities that built confidence, fostered connection, and provided healthy coping strategies, not just "fun outings."

The Solution: Adventure Recovery designed a monthly program combining hiking, rappelling, rock climbing, bushcraft, and other activities with guided reflection and clinical support. Programs are overseen by the Britelife clinical team and Adventure Recovery clinicians, facilitated by trained guides who understand the recovery journey.

The Partnership:

  • Monthly programming since 2023

  • Serves 78 clients per month

  • Customized to Britelife's clinical goals and optimizing client outcomes

“Adventure Recovery training is honestly one of my proudest achievements. The mental, physical, and skills-based growth I experienced from day one to five was tremendous. Definitely did things I never thought I’d be able to do. The AR Guides were incredible every step of the way. I strengthened bonds with old pals and made amazing new friends. Grateful for this opportunity.”—Dr. Jennifer Richards, PsyD, Chief Clinical Officer, Britelife Recovery
