JULIA THORSTAD AR Guide

Julia grew up on the north shore of Massachusetts playing sports, rock climbing, and staying out every day after school outdoors until dark. A college soccer and track and field athlete, she understands the impact of developing a wellness practice and of experiencing joy in community.

After struggling with her mental health and substance abuse, Julia found personal recovery in the Berkshires. Following her intuition and passion led her to Adventure Recovery, and in 2024, she completed her AR coach training in Colorado, and in 2025, she completed her rock climbing guide. She is avidly continuing her training in outdoor education and wilderness medicine.

Julia empowers others to push beyond limiting beliefs and cultivate a brave, adventurous spirit in themselves. She firmly believes in nature's ability to heal and enjoys sharing this with others. One of her favorite examples of profundity in the wild. Fractals symbolize unity and the infinite within the finite, revealing simple, repeated patterns that harken to underlying universal order, resilience, and the connection between micro and macro scales ("as above, so below").
