SEAN HARRIS Lead Guide
Sean is an AR Guide who was introduced to primitive wilderness exploration and adventure sports like rock climbing, whitewater canoeing, backpacking, and bushcraft at a young age, which sparked a lifelong passion. While attending Greenfield Community College’s Outdoor Leadership Program, he honed his instructional skills in these areas and embarked on a career as a river guide at Crab Apple Whitewater.
In 2017, Sean embarked on a 600+ mile hike on the Appalachian Trail from Maine back to Massachusetts, learning much about the external world, but more about his internal wilderness along the way. Not long after the conclusion of this journey, his battle with addiction and mental health brought him to the world of recovery.
In the fall of 2019, Sean attended an AR coach training, finding the AR program at a time he needed grounding to his more primitive self. He went on to manage a sober house, sharing his recovery with others, and continues to be an active member in the sober community he found in long-term recovery. Sean is a certified Outdoor Emergency Care Technician and a level 4 Swiftwater rescuer. He is an avid whitewater kayaker, a national ski patroller, and more likely than not, you will find him on the snow or a river at any given time.
